The Semi-Formal+ curriculum is designed for pupils with vision and sensory impairments who require a life-skills-focused curriculum. The complexity of their sensory impairments, combined with additional special educational needs, presents significant barriers to engagement and learning. To address these challenges, the Semi-Formal+ curriculum is highly personalised and tailored to the unique needs of each learner, across all key stages. The curriculum is structured into six key areas:
- My Communication
- My Thinking
- My Body
- Myself
- My Creativity
- Me and My Community
Through these curriculum domains, pupils engage in structured opportunities across a range of contexts, building on prior achievements and developing skills and knowledge in meaningful ways. The curriculum is designed to enable pupils to apply their newly acquired skills to everyday life, laying a strong foundation for developing more complex and abstract knowledge as they progress.
